Fetish Carvings

Zuni - Eric Weeka

This is an exceptional "Owl" fetish by Zuni carver Eric Weeka. The Owl is considered a sacred medicine bird.  Its medicine is symbolically associated with clairvoyance, astral projection and magic (white and black).  The Owl is sometimes called Night Eagle on some American Indian medicine wheels.  The Owl's feather is silent, you cannot hear it when it fly's but its prey definitely knows when it strikes with razor sharp talons and beak.  Poised high on a perch with its prey (the rabbit) in its talons, this fetish measures 2" high X 2" deep X 1" wide. In many cultures the Owl is the true essence of wisdom, seeing what others cannot.  Made from Pipe-stone with turquoise eyes, you'll find this to be a very nice collectible detailed carving, signed by Zuni artist Eric Weeka.
